I'm Dr Alison Haughton and I am a freelance science editor and proofreader living on the Bedfordshire-Buckinghamshire border in the UK. Prior to becoming a freelance editor, I worked for 17 years as a research scientist at Rothamsted Research investigating how crops, agricultural farming methods and environmental stressors affect biodiversity and ecosystem services in the agroecosystem, so that the ecological sustainability of crop production may be improved.
Now with 20 years published research experience of population, community and functional ecology in farmland, I have specialist knowledge of botany, entomology, insect behaviour, crop science, soil ecology and ecosystem services. I am also an experienced peer-reviewer for high impact scientific journals and BBSRC responsive mode grants, and have supervised and examined PhD students. You can find more about my science career at Orcid, publications and citation metrics at Google Scholar, peer-review history at Publons and professional links at LinkedIn.
