About meI'm Dr Alison Haughton, a freelance science copy-editor and Editor-in-Chief at the scientific journal, Weed Research. I live on the Bedfordshire-Buckinghamshire border in the UK, and prior to becoming freelance in 2017, I spent 17 years working as a research scientist at Rothamsted Research investigating how crops, farming methods and environmental stressors affect biodiversity and ecosystem services in agroecosystems.

With 20 years published research experience of population, community and functional ecology in farmland, I have specialist knowledge of plant sciences, entomology, insect behaviour, crop science, soil ecology and ecosystem services. As a journal editor-in-chief and experienced peer-reviewer for high impact scientific journals and BBSRC responsive mode grants, I can help you improve and optimise your writing of journal manuscripts and other scientific documents, as I have done for more than a hundred clients at Charlesworth, Oxford Science Editing and Scriptoria .
You can find more about my science career at ORCID, publications and citation metrics at Google Scholar, peer-review history at Publons and professional links at LinkedIn.
